While the same Grass and Poison-type you used to deal with Gastrodon might seem like a good idea against Milotic, watch out: It can take out Grass-types easily with Ice Beam. Gastrodon will likely take a while to defeat, so play it slow and be patient. (Pure Poison-types should watch out for Earthquake, though.) A Roserade’s strong Grass-type moves can deal a lot of damage to Gastrodon and its dual typing means it doesn’t have to worry about Sludge Bomb.

While Cynthia might be able to heal status conditions with Full Restores, a Pokémon with Toxic can just poison Gastrodon over and over again. A Grass and Poison-type status inflictor like Roserade is a good way to outlast Gastrodon. The best way to go about defeating Gastrodon is to play the long game. Electric-type attacks won’t work here either since Gastrodon’s Ground typing absorbs those, too. Gastrodon is also something of a tank thanks to its Leftovers item, which restores a little HP each turn, and its Storm Drain ability, which nullifies all Water-type attacks directed at it. Gastrodon might seem like an easy target with its quadruple weakness to Grass, but don’t let that lull you into a false sense of security-it has no problem erasing Grass-types with Sludge Bomb. For extra cover, have your Pokémon hold a Pecha Berry or stock up on Full Restores to heal from any poison that might be caused by Sludge Bomb or Roserade’s Poison Point ability. This means that if Roserade has no moves that are super effective on your Pokemon, the Expert Belt becomes worthless. The Expert Belt increases the power of super-effective moves. Fly is found in the Galactic Warehouse, allowing flying-type Pokémon to avoid damage for a turn by taking off before landing for massive damage.Using Infernape or Rapidash, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl’s only other native Fire-types, will also nullify the Expert Belt that Roserade is holding. Waterfall is a physical Water-type move that can cause the target to flinch and is available upon completing Sunyshore City.

Surf is a high-power Water-type move that is rewarded in Celestic Town. Moves that were originally HMs, such as Fly, Surf, and Waterfall, are still available to players in the form of TMs. Several powerful moves came from Hidden Moves in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, and in the remakes, HM overworld moves are now accessed by Pokétch. Scald, a powerful water-type move that can inflict the burn status effect on targets, can be found in Team Galactic's base in Veilstone City. Earthquake, one of the most powerful Ground-type moves in the game, can be found in Wayward Cave, alongside where rare Pokémon Gible can be found.

Toxic, a TM that causes lethal poison to the target that gets worse each turn, can be found on Route 212. Many TMs are found just out in the overworld, whether along the player's way on a route, or tucked away in one of the game's dungeons. Related: Pokémon BDSP Duplication Glitch Explained Players can find Flamethrower at Fuego Ironworks, north of Floroma Town, Thunderbolt behind Valley Windworks east of Floroma Town, and Ice Beam on a cliffside on snowy Route 216. These moves can also be found outside of the Veilstone Department Store. Ice Beam is a particularly sought-after TM in these games, as the Champion Cynthia fight's Garchomp in BDSP is incredibly weak against ice-type moves, and Ice Beam provides the best power for its accuracy. These three moves not only each boast 90 power and 100% accuracy in their respective elemental types, but also have a 10% to inflict burn, paralysis, and freeze respectively. Three of the most prized TMs among trainers are the fire-type Flamethrower, the electric-type Thunderbolt, and the ice-type Ice Beam. Thankfully, the TMs once offered by the Game Corner were moved to the Veilstone Department Store in the same city, as well as a few other desirable TMs. The Game Corner was once an instrumental facility in Pokémon games, as many of the most powerful TMs were available as prizes for gaining enough coins from the games on offer. The Veilstone City Game Corner was removed, with the location replaced in BDSP with an outfit shop to change clothes.
